Mostly Takeout, No Regrets

A WD Wednesday Post –

This week was definitely one of those mostly takeout, some cooking kind of weeks. There were moments where I tried to balance it out like having a chicken salad here and there, which honestly felt nice and refreshing. But then there were also plenty of moments where I ordered a slice, or a beef patty with cheese… which is always delicious and never something I regret in the moment.

At Wine Fest, where the drinking really took center stage food still made an appearance. My mother-in-law ordered empanadas, and obviously I had to try them. My favorite one by far was the cheese empanada with yellow plantains. Something about that combo just works every time. There was also this sandwich we couldn’t remember the exact name but it was that classic one with the German sausage on thick bread, topped with pickles and onions. Very hearty, very satisfying. We had that with some fries, which honestly was exactly what was needed at that point.

The next day… hangover recovery was in full effect.

We ordered so much food. First up was Dominican breakfast, because that’s just non-negotiable in situations like that. Then I ordered ramen, because ramen always fills the heart and somehow fixes everything. After that, Shake Shack happened. And honestly? Zero shame.

The following day, we did Dominican breakfast again because once it hits, it hits. And then… Shake Shack again. Because it was still hitting just as good as the day before. Consistency matters.

At this point, everything starts to blur together a little. I genuinely don’t remember every single thing I ate, but what I do know is that there was a lot of ordering out. Probably just as much as last time, if not more. But you know what? It is what it is.

The silver lining was that it was a three day weekend, so I actually had time to rest, recover, and slowly bring myself back to society. No rushing, no immediate chaos just eating, resting, and letting my body catch up. And honestly… that’s about it.
